Real Industry Job Interviews (RIJI)

The Real Industry Job Interviews (RIJI) program is BNLLEN’s career development program for Year 9 students, designed to build confidence and develop the practical skills needed to successfully enter the workforce. Delivered in partnership with secondary schools across Banyule and Nillumbik, the curriculum-based program guides students through the job application process, including searching for jobs, preparing a resume and cover letter, and developing effective interview techniques before participating in a real practice interview.

The program culminates in a practice interview day, where students are interviewed by local industry and community volunteers in a supportive, realistic setting. BNLLEN is seeking support from local community volunteers to support students on the following days:

• Thursday 15 October – Eltham Community Reception Centre
• Thursday 22 October – Bellfield Community Hub

All volunteers will be provided with an online volunteer training session delivered on Tuesday 15 September from 10:00am – 11:30am. Volunteers will also be provided with all the required resources, including a volunteer handbook, feedback forms and interview questions. On the day, lunch and morning tea will also be provided for all volunteers.

No prior experience is required to volunteer, however, all volunteers will be required to obtain a Working with Children’s Check.

TAC L2P Nillumbik and Banyule programs

The TAC L2P Program is a learner driver mentor program that helps eligible young people accrue the mandatory 120 hours of supervised driving experience required for a probationary licence.   Funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Department of Transport & Planning (DoTP), the program is delivered by the Banyule Nillumbik Local Learning and Employment Network (BNLLEN).

Vulnerable and disadvantaged Learners receive the support of a mentor and access to a vehicle to complete their required driving hours. Volunteers are fully trained to help young people build confidence and independence on the road
